This is a great bowl for serving at large gatherings, because it holds a lot. On average it is 12 inches in diameter and 4 in height, with some variance because all pieces are handmade, which makes them unique. When not using ours at a family gathering or party, it's on the kitchen counter full of fruit. Originally, I made the first one of this style for my wife, Susan. She makes a great Potato Salad and this bowl is perfect for that. Almost at every event, she is requested by family and friends to make her recipe to bring.  In fact, we will send a copy of her recipe along with purchase. This bowl is also perfect for tossed salads and some people have purchased this size bowl for their bread dough. Of course, it does go into the oven, microwave and dishwasher and the glazes do not contain either Lead or Barium
